It was around the time of my son’s Bar Mitzvah and in order to get a better understanding of what my son was doing and why, I began to attend the ‘Jewish church’ on Saturdays in preparation for his Bar Mitzvah. Since that time, and following my son’s Bar Mitzvah by many years, my attitude and behavior has changed precipitously; my involvement is complete—I participate and volunteer at the synagogue, both in and out of the service. My desire to represent my faith is such that I felt compelled to write this book, initially as a short guide for me, then eventually as a more in depth guide for everyone like me, everyone who, for whatever reason, had a need or a desire to know more about the Jewish morning prayers. For those considering attending morning services or just curious about them, then this book will be of value to you; for those just starting out and needing help following along, then this book will also be of value to you—finally for those currently attending morning prayers and looking for a deeper understanding of the liturgy and rituals of Jewish prayer, then this guide too will be of value for you.
